Me and Hannah did everything together Said we'd be best friends forever Then her mama got a job that was better, across the parish line And I was one summer shy of 11 When Granddaddy took a ride up to Heaven It ain't ever been an easy lesson on how to say goodbye They say, "What don't kill you makes you stronger" and I believe that's right Through every low-down beatin' this old heart's taken A whisper in the dark says I won't make it I know it's just the devil doin' what he does, tryin' to make me suffer No matter what the battle is keeping me prayin' I gotta be strong, I gotta keep saying I'm gonna make it through, one way or the other Life is tough, but this girl's tougher I'm a sucker for a boy with blue eyes A pair of boots and an old four-wheel drive So, when I saw you in the July moonlight I thought, "Oh, good Lord" I let you lay that sun kiss on me And open up that truck door for me Now I find out that I ain't the only girl you're doing that for You're gonna get a good cry from me tonight, but nothin' more Through every low-down beatin' this old heart's taken A whisper in the dark says I won't make it I know it's just the devil doin' what he does, tryin' to make me suffer No matter what the battle is keeping me prayin' I gotta be strong, I gotta keep saying I'm gonna make it through it, one way or the other Life is tough, but this girl's tougher Than anything you throw my way Yeah, I might bend but I won't break You ain't the first, won't be the last to make me feel this way Through every low-down beatin' this old heart's taken A whisper in the dark says I won't make it I know it's just the devil doin' what he does, tryin' to make me suffer No matter what the battle is keeping me prayin' I gotta be strong, I gotta keep saying I'm gonna make it through it one way or the other Life is tough, but this girl's tougher Life is tough But this girl's tougher

Big heart, big smile Big voice on the radio dial Like a country music modern day apostle Yeah, I leaned in like it was gospel W-W-D-D That's the bottom line for me My go-to compass and my golden rule When life rings my southern bell I just gotta ask myself, hell What would Dolly do? In them heels In that dress Wouldn't put up with no BS She'd kill ya with some kindness, take the high road Turn a little rain into a rainbow W-W-D-D That's the bottom line for me My go-to compass and my golden rule When life rings my southern bell I just gotta ask myself, hell What would Dolly do? Didn't let dirt poor hold her back And getting told no, it don't mean jack Ain't scared of nothing ain't nobody's fool Don't put up with heartbreak, boys like you W-W-D-D That's the bottom line for me My go-to compass and my golden rule When life rings my southern bell I just gotta ask myself, hell What would Dolly do? I said hell what would, Dolly do? Hey, what would Dolly do?

Well, I pulled up, to that church of Christ With a broken heart, and bloodshot eyes Too hungover to go inside So, I hung my head and drove on by And I don't feel like Hallelujah With this aching in my chest So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds Drinking in my Sunday best Thought I really, really knew him well He was the one, far as I could tell But last night I caught him with somebody else And yeah, that preacher's son can go to hell And I don't feel like Hallelujah With this aching in my chest So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds Drinking in my Sunday bеst And yeah, I know that I'll get over him in timе But right now, forgiveness ain't something I can find And I don't feel like Hallelujah With this aching in my chest So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds Drinking, and I'm a mess Yeah, I'm drinking in my Sunday best When I pulled up to that church of Christ Oh, I'm gonna be here just drinking It's somethin' silly Hell, Jesus turned water into wine Hmm, pour me another one, hahaha Whoo, I'm drunk
